Strawberry & Lemon Pound Cake Trifle

Strawberry & Lemon Pound Cake Trifle

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and we all love a tasty treat on a special occasion! I enjoy having the special women in my life over for a brunch or dinner, but don’t want to spend all day cooking and baking either. I want to enjoy the day with my family too. This delicious Strawberry & Lemon Pound Cake Trifle is a beautiful and simple dessert that you (or even your husband) can prepare in only minutes!

Bright red strawberries and fresh lemon zest are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face and your kiddos can even help assemble this sweet treat!

Ingredients for Strawberry & Lemon Pound Cake Trifle

The best part about this recipe is that it only calls for 4 ingredients! You can grab your fresh strawberries, Sara Lee All Butter or Lemon Pound Cake, Cool Whip, and lemons on your next grocery shopping trip to Walmart.

Creating a special dessert, (even if it happens to be last minute) is easy when you have Sara Lee Desserts, made with real, quality ingredients and creamy Cool Whip Whipped Topping on hand.

Slicing then Cubing Sara Lee Pound Cake for Trifle

You can either defrost your pound cake in the microwave or leave it in the refrigerator overnight with the Cool Whip to thaw so you’re ready to prepare and assemble this dessert the next day. Convenience is the name of the game here! 😉

Start Layering your Trifle Dessert

If you don’t have a trifle bowl, don’t worry! Any taller glass bowl that you will be able to see all of the layers through will do. My grandmother let me borrow this pretty vintage bowl. I just love it because it’s simple with sweet etching.

Adding Fresh Strawberries to the Trifle Dessert

Simply take the yummy Sara Lee Pound Cake out of the package and slice it into small squares. Rinse and slice your fresh strawberries and have a grater ready for your lemons to add some fresh flavor and color to your Cool Whip.

You can layer this in any order you like. It’s fun to let your children make it into a special creation for mom too!

Adding Lemon Zest to Cool Whip

We started with 1/2 of the pound cake squares, added the sliced strawberries around the bowl in the same direction, then more on top of the pound cake in the middle.

We stirred the zest of 2 lemons into the Cool Whip and layered that on top as well.

Then we just repeated the layers!

Last Layer of Pound Cake for the Trifle Dessert

To make the presentation extra pretty we saved a few pieces of pound cake and whole strawberries to garnish the top of the trifle with along with spiraled lemon peel and more lemon zest! That’s it!
