October 2015 Stitch Fix

October 4, 2015 by Shannon

October 2015 Stitch Fix Review

It’s really feeling like Fall now and I am ready to get cozy in some great new wardrobe pieces this season. I loved the sweater that I received in my last fix, so I couldn’t wait to open my package for October. To be honest, I was a little disappointed as I unwrapped the white tissue paper and pulled the items out of the box. The colors weren’t colors I normally wear and a few of the styles had me questioning how good this fix was going to be. I pushed those feelings aside, opened my mind and tried everything on, because you really never know what you’ll like until you try it! I’m so glad I did!

Here’s My October Stitch Fix:

41 Hawthorn Renesme Geo Cube Print Faux Wrap Dress $78

Out all all of the items this month, this wrap dress was what I was most excited about. Wrap dresses tend to be flattering on a curvier gal like myself and comfortable too. Heading into Fall, I noticed that I don’t have very many dresses in my closet. This nice dress will be nice to wear to church or anywhere really. My stylist suggested that I wear this dress with boots, so maybe I’ll have to get a pair!

Since I like layers, I tried it on with my sweater from last month’s Stitch Fix too.

I really am not a fan of burgundy, so I wasn’t to excited about this purse. Maybe it had to do with the chunky gold accents or the fact that I just wasn’t in the mood for a new purse. I don’t know. It did have a lot of space and was similar to a purse I did keep from a Fix in the Spring that I love.

Mystree Skylar Asymmetrical Knit Zip Jacket $78

I love sweaters and jackets. I like layers and I think I wear one or the other every single day from Fall until Spring and sometimes even in the summer if it’s chilly in the morning or the evenings. This asymmetrical jacket/sweater was cute, but I didn’t think it felt really cozy. It gets cold here in Western New York and I want to feel like I am snuggling up to a pretty blanket when I buy a sweater. I know that’s not what this piece was intended for, but since it’s been chilly, that’s what I’m in the mood for. It also did me no favors when it was zipped up. If the price was lower, I may have kept it for a casual piece for a warmer fall day.

Market & Spruce Gretta Embroidery Detail Knit Top $58

When I first held this shirt up it looked a little plain. I do like plain, but it was so light in color and soft like my softest, favorite pair of pajamas. I wasn’t really sure how it was going to look. Well, I do like v necks and once I put this on I quickly realized that it was one of those staple type shirts that’s really comfortable and can be worn layered with several different things. The light color did make it a bit see through though and that made me feel a little self conscious. If this was a darker color I would have gladly kept this. *To my stylist- please send me the same shirt in a darker color.*

Now this shirt… Oh, boy. My 12 year old said that this was not the shirt for me. She said it looked like a grandma shirt. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling it either. I really felt like Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond in it. Trust me this picture looks 1000 times better than it did in person. I get that flowy type shirts are in, but the cut was off for me and even with a large chest, this was too big and hung horribly. I think it looked okay with something over it, but I like to make sure the shirts I purchase look good and I feel good in them whether they are by themselves or layered.

I love the wrap dress! And the sweater! I am sucker for a red bag though, plus I think the style is cute.
My first stitch fix is supposed to arrive today! I am so excited! YAY! However, I am a curvy momma, so my fingers are crossed that something will fit right.
I saw someone say they changed their age on their profile to get “younger” options and it helped. Depending on what I get I might give that a try on a future fix.
Have an awesome week Shannon! Thanks for your reviews & keep ’em coming girl!

Thanks so much Krysti! That’s an interesting idea- the age thing! I hope your first fix is awesome! Stop back & let me know how it went! 🙂 Have a wonderful week!

Thanks for sharing your fixes! Love your dress! I received my third one in September, and the stylist was all wrong! I am a size 12, and I feel like maybe they don’t have great inventory for what they consider “plus size.” Everything is kinda frumpy and grandma! I am giving it one more try, hoping to find some new fall pieces!

Hi Katie! Thanks! I’m hoping to get a lot of use out of that dress this season:) Yeah I do feel that sometimes the flowy type shirts look frumpy and shapeless when you need a larger size. I’m sure that flowery one I got this month would have been nice on someone very tiny, but I just felt like a big ball in it…Give it another try. Make sure you pin a lot of items you like to your style board on Pinterest if you have one and make a note of it in your style profile and be honest- don’t be afraid to say exactly what you don’t like. After all you are paying for it not them so there should be no feelings hurt. I hope your Fall is off to a great start & thanks so much for stopping by to chat! 🙂
