The Importance of Soft Water in Your Home

The Importance of Soft Water In Your Home

Today I want to talk about something that often gets overlooked in your home. It’s your water! Whether you live in a city or village and have municipal water, or you live in the country like me and have your own private water supply, the kind of water that comes out of your faucet everyday is important! We drink it, we cook with it, we bathe in it, and we wash our laundry with it. Have you tested it lately? I want to share with you the importance of soft water in your home!

Soft Water Helps You Get Shiny Wine Glasses

Having hard water is not desirable. Hard water causes mineral deposits to build up which easily clogs your home’s pipes and can damage your heating systems. That will also make your appliances less efficient. Hard water is also the cause of nasty soap scum build up, a dingy color on newly washed laundry, spots on your dishes and of course drying out your skin and hair.

Since I spend a lot of my day cooking and cleaning with my hands in and out of water all day, it’s was really important when we moved out to the country that our water be soft, especially because I suffer from eczema.

Soft Water Helps Keep Your Skin & Hair Soft

We had only been at our new house in the country a week when I started to notice problems with our water. I couldn’t get our dishes clean, even if I washed and dried them by hand. My hair felt like it had a build up on it and my whole family’s skin was itchy, dry and scaly. Could it be the water?

My husband tested our water with a simple testing strip and we then realized our well produced really hard water.

Almost immediately we had a water softener installed. The process was very simple and maintaining it is a breeze.

Check out this video below to see how a water softener works!

No more spotty dishes and glasses, no more scaly build up in our sinks and bathtubs, and that itchy dry feeling on our skin went away. I don’t know what we would do without it!

As a matter of fact, the water we have now is even better than the water we previously had when we lived in town.

Once a month my husband, opens the top of our water softener, effortlessly tears open a bag of Morton Salt and pours it in! That’s it! Soft water, all month long and a happy, healthy home… and wife! 🙂
