Lunch time is always a busy time at our house! All of my kiddos come to the table hungry and I’m always looking for fun ways to make simple sandwiches more fun. A few weeks ago we got creative and made Tractor Sandwiches. This past weekend I planned a fun “Family Sandwich Tasting” and my children were really excited. We tried 3 different Nature’s Harvest® Whole Grain Breads with our favorite varieties of sandwiches to see which one we liked the best! You never know if you like something until you try it!
Most of the time I prepare everyone’s sandwiches with Nature’s Harvest 100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat Bread. I like the heartiness of it and even though it’s wheat, it’s always soft. In addition to the 100% Whole Wheat, I also used Nature’s Harvest Whole Grain White and Honey Wheat, which also contain a good amount of whole grains…8 grams per serving! Nature’s Harvest never uses artificial flavors, colors or high-fructose corn syrup and ALL of their varieties carry the whole grain stamp!
I set up a mini sandwich making station on my kitchen counter, and made 3 different sandwiches on the 3 different breads. I used our family’s most popular sandwich fillings, Ham & Cheese, PB&J & Tuna Salad that we use quite often for school lunches during the week.
After the sandwiches were all assembled, I cut them into 4 triangles and set them up on a wooden serving tray. I also set out fresh grapes and baby carrots for a little munching in between sandwiches.
Everyone started out with their favorite sandwich and continued tasting all of the sandwiches. Which bread did everyone like the best?
You’ll never believe this, but my children loved them all! They enjoyed the Whole Wheat Bread because I use it on a regular basis. They also really liked the Whole Grain White and Honey Wheat which will be a nice option for me to use in the future to change things up a bit.
Overall our Family Fun Sandwich Tasting turned out to be one of the highlights of our weekend and it didn’t even take that much more effort than my normal lunch prep. My children felt very important judging the sandwiches while eating them in a more “fancy” finger food fashion.
