My husband and I got married when we were really young. We were high school sweethearts and to get where we are today, we have had to make sacrifices and work really hard. My husband has always worked every day of the week and long hours so I would be able to stay home with our children as they are growing up.
In the beginning of our marriage, we very rarely took any time or spent any money on going out, taking trips or really doing much aside from working. As our children have gotten older, we have started planning little trips here and there that would allow us some time together where we could enjoy different places. When it comes to trip planning, that’s my department. It’s not really my husband’s cup of tea and that’s okay. 🙂 Last year my mother watched our children for a few days and we drove to Gettysburg and stayed a few nights at a lovely bed & breakfast. It was the first time we had ever been away overnight since our honeymoon! This year we stayed an extra day in Asheville, NC at another beautiful bed and breakfast when I was visiting the area for a blogging conference. 12 Years of marriage and that’s our big travel log as a couple. It’s hard to get away when you are running a business and taking care of a family, but sometimes you need little breaks of down time here and there.
We live about an hour or so from Niagara Falls. It’s something that I think a lot of people in this area take for granted. It’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World and yet it’s somewhere we vary rarely visit. The last time my husband and I were there was when we were engaged. Boy, that was a long time ago! It was a weekend trip and it was so much fun to take a little vacation right in our own back yard.
When I came across a Groupon for a one night stay in Niagara Falls at this quaint hotel, I knew this would be the perfect gift for my husband. It won’t be a long drive and it’s the perfect way to spend some time together right after the busy Holidays. The Falls are lit in the evenings and even in the Winter, it’s just a magnificent site to see.
