Fun Family Holiday Ideas with Honey Maid

The Holidays are always such a great time to get your family together and have fun in the kitchen.  From baking Christmas Cookies and desserts to building that beautiful Gingerbread House, you have to have some great ingredients on hand.  One of the first things I purchase at Walmart as soon as December comes around is Honey Maid Graham Crackers!  These delicious & wholesome snack crackers of course make a great snack but they are also perfect for some of my family’s favorite Holiday recipes!  Especially when we have our Family Baking Day!

Making gingerbread houses is something that my children look forward to every year.  My mother in law always sets aside a day in December for all of her grandchildren to come over and decorate the houses.  My children have so much fun and it really gets everyone in the Holiday spirit.  I also set aside a day to make Gingerbread houses with my kiddos too and we make it a party!  This past weekend we put our aprons on, turned on some Christmas music, drank creamy hot chocolate and got busy creating the best Holiday snacks and gingerbread houses we could!

Graham Cracker Chocolate & Peppermint Bark

My family loves to help bake.  Using simple recipes really is nice when you have little ones trying to help.  I know my children always feel so proud of themselves when they help make a dish from start to finish.  This Easy Graham Cracker Chocolate & Peppermint Bark is the perfect sweet treat to enjoy while getting crafty with your gingerbread houses!

Making Easy Graham Cracker Chocolate & Peppermint Bark

Crisp Honey Maid Graham Crackers are covered in a toffee like mixture, baked for a few minutes, covered with melted dark chocolate & mint chips and crushed candy canes. Then the Bark is broken or cut into pieces for a delicious dessert that can be served during your next Holiday party or given as gifts too!

Adding Chocolate & Peppermint to Graham Cracker Bark

We decided to do something a little different with our gingerbread houses this year.  This year we decided to make Snacky Gingerbread Houses!  We used Honey Maid graham crackers, peanut butter, pretzels, dried cranberries, cinnamon almonds, pumpkin seeds, yogurt covered raisins, dried apricots, rolled oats and some dark chocolate & mint chips to prepare our houses.

Snacky Gingerbread House Ingredients

I don’t know how it goes in your family, but as soon as my children are done decorating their houses they always want to eat them.  Right away!  Sometimes a lot of the frosting and candy that is used for most gingerbread houses can give us a tummy ache.  I figured why not add some items to our houses this year that we normally eat for snacks.

These great ingredients really made for some pretty unique looking houses and we loved them.  We kept these houses simple because my children range in age from 3-11 and I wanted everyone to be able to enjoy this activity without getting frustrated.

I made the shape of a house on a large plate with the crackers and pretzel twists (securing each one on the plate with a little peanut butter underneath), covered the graham crackers in peanut butter and then we decorated them with whatever “decorations” we wanted.

These were so tasty looking that I let my children snack on them right away!  Don’t these houses look cute?!

These turned out so cute! Great idea to make the flat houses so they wouldn’t have to worry about them collapsing! And your bark looks so good! I’ll be right over! #client
