Bleu Cheese Buffalo Chicken Burgers

May 24, 2013 by Shannon

Buffalo, New York is well known for having the best chicken wings around.   It’s a taste that well, you just can’t find anywhere else.  I have lived in this area for most of my life, so it is easy for my family to go out and get great tasting Buffalo Wings.  For those of you who love that hot, Buffalo Wing flavor, but don’t live in the Buffalo area, I think this recipe just might satisfy your taste buds.  This Bleu Cheese Buffalo Chicken Burger is a perfect weeknight meal, made right on the grill.  These chicken burgers are loaded with blue cheese crumbles, hot sauce and topped with a cool bleu cheese dressing.  The hotness is balanced out by serving this with crispy, fresh lettuce and juicy tomatoes.  To save myself time during the week I like to make these ahead of time, so all I have to do is put them on the grill for a quick, delicious meal.  I personally like to pair this burger with fresh celery and carrots.  It makes me feel less guilty about the burger when I am eating my veggies too:)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup bleu cheese crumbles
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 2 Tbsp. hot sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 4 large hamburger buns
  • your favorite bleu cheese dressing

  • more hot sauce

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients well.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal pieces and gently shape into patties.
  3. These grill beautifully on a George Foreman grill, but you can cook these on a regular grill too.
  4. Grill burgers until a meat thermometer reads that it is done.
  5. Serve hot on toasted buns with lettuce, tomato, more hot sauce and bleu cheese dressing.
  6. Serves 4.
