3 Reasons My Children Are #FreeToBe Adventurous

When I first became a mom 12 years ago, I worried about messes.  I worried about them a lot.  I worked hard to make sure my daughter’s clothing, face, and hands we always clean.  Even when we were playing.  I didn’t like dirt and I had a hard time letting go and allowing a mess.  We don’t wear shoes in our home and a clean house and clean children has always made me a happy mom.  Fast forward a little over a decade and I have now let go of my worries about cleaning and my children are #FreeToBe Adventurous all the time!

My children love exploring.  It’s a different adventure everyday.  Every season offers different flowers, plants, animals and weather.  If it’s raining, so what!  It can be messy, dirty, muddy and wet, but my family just loves it!  Especially our boys.

If they see mud, they head right for it.  A patch of soft moss, they want to get right down on the ground and touch it.  Going outdoors is always a sensory experience and most often my little one’s favorite part of the day!

After our long winter this year, we are enjoying picking flowers (even if they are dandelions!), watching the growth of our flowers and the buds on our trees starting to change into leaves.  It’s almost magical how everything blooms and awakens in the Spring!

A raincoat and boots are easy to throw on, but they aren’t necessary! My daughter’s boots from last year didn’t fit, so we just put on her Crocs and went out into the rain.  She had a blast!  Why wait for perfect conditions – live in the moment!
