April 2015 Stitch Fix Review

How are you all doing?!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  My family and I just got home from a lovely 2 weeks in Florida.  We really enjoyed the warm and sunny weather, but we weren’t that excited to get snow here on Easter when we arrived home.  Yuck!  I think that’s all behind us now though and the temperatures are going to be more Spring-like and in the 50’s for the remainder of the week.  I was so excited to get all of our held mail today because there was a Stitch Fix box waiting for me!

If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix before- here’s the deal… Now you can have your own personal stylist! Stitch Fix is a personal styling service that ships hand picked items to your doorstep. When you head over to stitchfix.com and sign up for a “fix”, you fill out your style profile and choose a day you would like to receive your fix. When you schedule your fix ( I schedule one per month, but you can do more or less), you are charged a $20 styling fee. When your Stitch Fix arrives, you have 3 days to try everything on and decide what items you would like to keep and which items you would like to send back in the enclosed prepaid envelope. You don’t have to lose your $20 styling fee either! You can apply that towards any purchase! If you love and purchase your whole “Fix” you get 25% too!

With Spring being nice, but generally cooler here in Western New York, I asked my stylist to include some pretty colored pieces, but pieces that might work well with layers too.  I’ve been so happy with my “Fixes” lately, that I knew there would be some good items to choose from this month!

So Here’s My April Stitch Fix

41Hawthorn Moni Geo Print & Camisole Blouse $58

Stitch Fix 41Hawthorn Moni Geo Print & Camisole Blouse

I knew when I opened the box that I was going to like this blouse.  I like the colors and for me, I like blouses that have a little bit of a pattern to hid imperfections like rolls and such:)  This blouse can be dressed up with black capris or worn more casually with jeans.

Pants and jeans aren’t my favorite things to try on because I am curvy and most times I don’t really like the way I look in them.  Shirts are more fun!  My stylist did leave me a note in my fix though that she knew these would be way to long, but maybe if I liked the fit I could have them hemmed.  That is always an option!  I really liked the color, look and feel of these jeans when I put them on.  I probably don’t need another pair right now with the weather getting nicer and all, but I’ve also learned that if you like something, especially something that’s hard to shop for- you should get it or you will be sorry later.  My mother is a very good seamstress and could have these hemmed nicely for me quickly.  Mom if you are reading this- Please 😉

Market & Spruce Barrymore Solid Pleat Detail Tank $48

Stitch Fix Market & Spruce Barrymore Solid Pleat Detail Tank

I love this teal color!  It makes me feel like nicer weather is on the way and it goes well with a lot of my cardigans- especially the one I kept from my last “Fix”.  This tank is light and flows nicely.  I really like the subtle detail and this will be great with jeans and when the weather is nicer, shorts.  It’s a simple piece but I’m pretty simple and I love tops that are easy, but  little more dressy than a t shirt or cotton tank in the Spring and Summer.

Pixley Carissa Striped Fit & Flare Dress $64

I like stripes.  My sister asked me once why I was so “stripey”.  I don’t know.  I just like it.  Being curvier, maybe I shouldn’t like them so much because stripes can sometimes make wider parts look even wider, but sometimes they look okay.  I wasn’t sure about this dress.  The material is a soft, but heavier cotton, and the cut is higher.  With a larger chest plus the stripes, I didn’t quite know if I loved it, but I don’t wear dresses a lot.  When I do, I like to wear a light cardigan along with it.  I tried that and I really liked this.  This dress also seems like it can be worn through a few different seasons too which is nice.

Bay to Baubles Nima Carved Teardrop Chandelier Earrings $28

Stitch Fix Bay to Baubles Nima Carved Teardrop Chandelier Earrings

I’ve recently started wearing earrings again.  Now that my 4 children aren’t little babies anymore and aren’t tugging and pulling at my jewelry, I figured that now would be a good time to add a few fun casual pieces to my wardrobe.  These earrings aren’t heavy and they will go with a lot of different things.  I don’t tend to look at earrings when I am out shopping, so having a pair delivered to my own front door that I like works for me!

So I guess I did it again.  I kept everything in my “Fix”!  My favorite piece in this fix was the Orange Geo Print Blouse.  The other pieces are going to be nice to mix and match throughout the Spring and Summer months.  Sometimes I tell myself I am going to shop for myself in the Spring, but I never end up having time to really set aside a day for just me.  Spring is always very busy with school functions and activities, so having these on hand will almost guarantee that I won’t be running around last minute looking for something to wear.  The total cost for my April Stitch Fix was $276.  With my styling fee credit of $20 and the “Buy 5 (25%) Discount”, my total was $192.

If you aren’t sure if Stitch Fix is for you, consider giving it a try.  I never thought that I would be happy with what someone else picked out for me, but I was wrong.  This had also been such a convenience for me.  I love the fact that I have a few nicer/ stylish pieces in my closet now that I can sort of grab, put on and go, while actually feeling pretty good about how I look.

Thank you so much to those of you who have signed up using my referral link. I receive Stitch Fix credit when friends like you schedule their “fixes”!
