<p>Do you have the Winter Blues?  Have you been longing to get outside without your heavy coat and boots to enjoy some much needed sun?  You are not alone!  We still have snow on the ground here in Western New York, and even though the thermometer outside my kitchen window says it is above freezing (in the sun), we haven&#8217;t quite made it into Spring just yet.  Today the sun was shining so bright that I really wanted to get out of the house and go for a walk.  My four year old son was more than happy to come with me and we walked around our property looking for signs of Spring.  One of the first things we noticed was that the ice on the lake seemed to be melting.  Yay!  Last week the ice reached much further out into the lake.</p>
<p><a href="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Ice-Melting-On-The-Lake.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1474" title="Ice Melting On The Lake" src="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Ice-Melting-On-The-Lake.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="352" srcset="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Ice-Melting-On-The-Lake.jpg 640w, https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Ice-Melting-On-The-Lake-300x165.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>We thought it was great to see the water again!</p>
<p><a href="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Apple-Trees-Budding.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1475" title="Apple Trees Budding" src="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Apple-Trees-Budding.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="480" srcset="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Apple-Trees-Budding.jpg 640w, https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Apple-Trees-Budding-300x225.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>We also noticed that our apple trees have small buds on them.</p>
<p><a href="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Trees-with-Buds.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1476" title="Trees with Buds" src="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Trees-with-Buds.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="480" srcset="https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Trees-with-Buds.jpg 640w, https://d27hwuc9z2lofn.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Trees-with-Buds-300x225.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>We looked around and noticed that many of the trees on our property have buds on them too.  It was a bit cold and windy out, so we decided to head back into the house.  Our walk was short, but even though it was cold, I felt energized and refreshed when we came inside and I was in a great mood.  It was good for me and I got to spend some quality time with my son.</p>
<p>Spring <em>is</em> just around the corner and I think getting outside everyday even if the weather conditions aren&#8217;t ideal helps fight those  Winter Blues.  Even if you set aside just 15 minutes, you will feel so much better after a little sunshine and fresh air.  Think about taking your family outside and taking advantage of this interesting time of year when you can observe the small things in nature that tell us Spring is on its way.</p>
<p>How do you fight the Winter Blues?</p>
