One of my favorite things about getting into a nice Back to School schedule and routine is dinner time. During the week things can get really busy, but at the end of the day it’s always nice to come together as a family. Sharing a meal together and talking about your day, no matter how good or bad it was is so important. Getting your children into the kitchen to help prepare and cook with you is just as important! Grab your kiddos, and apron or 2 and start simple with these delicious Breaded Chili Pork Chops with Brown Rice for dinner!
These pork chops are well seasoned, breaded and then baked for a moist and flavorful main entree. It’s served over tender brown rice along with a fresh steamed vegetable for a simple and satisfying weeknight family meal.
They are really easy to make and your children will have a great sense of accomplishment knowing that they helped to prepare such a tasty meal. Cooking is a great way to express yourself, a way to be creative and a learning experience that your children will carry with them the rest of their lives.
The older my four children get, the more I realize how important it is to spend individual time with each one of them. Making a date to cook at least once a week with your child is something that both of you can look forward to.
Have you heard of the Ben’s Beginners Program?! It’s an amazing program that began with just one simple goal… to get kids to cook! Cooking is not only fun and exciting, but it encourages your child’s to be creative while helping you connect with one another.
Food has a way of bringing people together, not just at the table, but in the kitchen too!
So with that in mind, after your child’s homework is done, head on into your kitchen and get cooking!
Blend together the seasonings and the breadcrumbs in a large plastic bag. This is always one of my kiddos favorite parts!
Brush each pork chop with extra virgin olive oil and then place it into the bag pressing each side down into the breadcrumb mixture, coating the meat well.
Place your breaded pork chops onto a lightly greased, foil or parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake until golden brown for 40-45 minutes in your oven.
Before your timer goes off on the pork chops, place a bag of UNCLE BEN’S® Boil-In-Bag Whole Grain Brown Rice into a pot of boiling water to cook. It only takes 10 minutes!
I always grab a few packages of Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice and Uncle Ben’s Boil In Bag Rice on my grocery shopping trips to Walmart to have on hand in my pantry for our weeknight dinners. For a Limited Time, GET $0.75 OFF Ready Rice products exclusively at Walmart!
Preparation couldn’t be easier and you get perfectly cooked rice each and every time!
After the pork chops have come out of the oven, set one over a spoonful of the brown rice and add a serving of fresh vegetables to each plate.
That’s it! You’ve got yourself a wonderful weeknight meal that your whole family can enjoy together!
This week, try to make dinnertime (and dinner preparation with family) a priority at your house. It just might end up being the highlight of your day!
